Queenstown is the adventure capital of the world, located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu surrounded by the Remarkables mountain range. Famous for bungee jumping (invented here), skydiving, skiing, white water rafting, and jet boating. Also a gateway to Fiordland National Park and Milford Sound. Very popular with young travellers and thrill-seekers. Population: 16,000 (but receives millions of visitors).
