Latvia

Latvia, beyond the city gates

Riga courtyard workshops, Gauja valley forests, Kurzeme fishing villages — a country deeper than its old town streets.

Latvia holds more than Riga’s grand facades reveal. Behind the city’s Art Nouveau front doors, hidden courtyards shelter small studios and quiet craft shops rarely seen by passers-by. East of the capital, the Gauja valley keeps a calm of its own — sandstone cliffs, thick pine forests, and river bends carved over ages. Along the Kurzeme coast, small fishing villages move to the rhythm of nets, boats, and open sea winds. The country’s wide bogs and wetlands stretch out in quiet stillness, home to wooden boardwalks and birds found nowhere else nearby. Our team searches for Latvian hosts who know these quieter corners — Riga craftspeople who open their workshops, Gauja rangers who know every forest path, Kurzeme fishermen tied to their coastal homes, keepers of ancient bogs and wooden farmsteads. Frankenbridge is currently building its Latvia collection. New boutique tours and genuine local experiences will be added as partners pass our review.
