Curaçao
Curaçao, colourful and complex.
Beyond the pastel waterfront, an island of coral reefs, Papiamentu traditions, plantation history and a cultural depth that surprises every visitor.
Curaçao carries more layers than its famous harbour front suggests. Willemstad’s Punda and Otrobanda districts face each other across the water, their architecture a genuinely distinctive Caribbean hybrid. The leeward coast hides some of the region’s most accessible shore diving, reef walls dropping away just steps from the waterline. Banda Abou’s countryside holds plantation landhuizen and a rural Papiamentu culture that predates the tourism entirely. Our curators look for those who know Curaçao from the inside — the Willemstad historian who reads the colonial streetscape honestly, the shore dive guide who has mapped every reef entry, the landhuizen keeper connecting visitors to the island’s layered past.
